This is not that much complicated as it look like.
Only thing you have to do is focus on what is asked to do. Note that each row and each column gives rise to a linear equation on three or four variable. But we need (A - B) only, so we have to manipulate only those rows or columns which leads us to this particular relation.

Take the first row,
  • (A + A + B + C) = 11 => (2A + B + C) = 11 ................... (1)
Take the third row,
  • (A + B + C + B) = 5 => (A + 2B + C) = 5 ....................... (2)
Subtract (2) from (1),
  • (2A + B + C) - (A + 2B + C) = (11 - 5)
    => (A - B) = 6

I haven't rechecked it, so I may be wrong and convoluted in details:

Solving horix:
2A+B+C = 11; C+D+E+F = 9; A+2B+C = 5
Solving Vert:
2A+C = 15; A+B+E=3; B+D+C= 1; B+F+C= 6

Summing either : 3(A+B+C) + D+E+F = 25 --1

SUb : 2A+B+C = 11
A+2B+C = 5
=========
A-B = 6
