Given: Max pulse rate = 176 - 0.8x

So, if Max pulse rate = 140, we get: 140 = 176 - 0.8x
Subtract 176 from both sides of the equation to get: -36 = -0.8x
Solve: x = -36/(-0.8) = 45

Answer: B
