A. n<0.1
B. n>0.01
Can an expert show me the easiest way to solve this?
Which is greater, 20 percent of n or 10 percent of the sum of n and 0.5?
Translate the words into math:
.2n > .1(n + 0.5)
Multiply each side by 10.
2n > n + 0.5
Subtract n from each side.
n > 0 .5
Question rephrased: Is n > 0.5?
Statement 1: n < 0.1
Thus, it is not possible that n > 0.5.
SUFFICIENT.
Statement 2: n > 0.01
It's possible that n = 0.1, in which case n < 0.5.
It's possible that n = 1, in which case n > 0.5.
INSUFFICIENT.
The correct answer is
A.
