If y ≠ 3 and 2x/y is a prime integer greater than 2, which of the following must be true?
I. x = y
II. y = 1
III. x and y are prime integers.
(A) None (B) I only (C) II only (D) III only (E) I and II

(I) - not true

If x = y, 2x/y = 2 which is false since 2x/y must be greater than 2. Eliminate B and E.

(II) - not true

If y = 1, 2x/y = 2x which is false since 2x/y must be prime. Eliminate C.

(III) Can only be true if y = 2 and x is any other prime number. For all other values of y, III is false. Since question asks "which of the following must be true", this statement is false too since its not always true. Eliminate D.
Ans: A
Please let me know the OA.

Sunit

IMO ans should be "A".

I) If x=y, then 2x/y=2 which does not validate the question which says it should be >2
II) y=1 does not give any numeric soln
III) Take values to negate this.
Take x=5 and y=3 which gives 2x/y a fractional number.

All the 3 options are not possible. Ans is Opt. A
