Coordinate System

by jerryragland » Tue Apr 27, 2010 2:21 am
Guys,

I have problem dealing with Coordinate system problems. Any pointers or documents to deal with those problems. Looks like just finding the x intercept and y intercept isn't enough.

Regards,
Jerry.

hi Jerry,

As far as GMAT is concerned the concepts tested in co-ordinate system problems are the very basic ones which I believe you already know. In fact what they have covered in Math review section of OG12 suffices. Thereafter it is application.

I have referred to Kaplan Premier and even they cover same as the OG. I have heard a lot about MGMAT guides but haven't used any of their Math guide yet. You might wanna try the Geometry one.

This is just me. May be I haven't seen any problems, which demand knowledge of further concepts.
Thanks.

HTH.

coordinate system problems on the GMAT are fairly basic - you have to have an understanding of slope, and y=mx+b and how they relate. After that it is normally a mixture of coordinate system and right triangles that will solve most problems.
