Weak Quant on GMAT after 2 attempts

Stacy,

I just re-took the GMAT and failed to improve my quant, so I am asking for some advice (or maybe just therapy.)

I had a 710 (40Q 47V) the first time and after some heavy studying for math got... a 710 (39Q 48V). So My score went down despite getting 42-47 on practice tests. And I felt so confident too!

I am thinking I might give up on the GMAT and focus on my R1 applications but would like your opinion.

Hi econgirl,

A 710 is a great score - but if you really want to improve your quant it is probably useful to take a calculus class to refresh your math memory.

I do think you have a chance, and I would advise you not to downplay your accomplishments. Knowing several languages, having accomplishments at work and being active in extracurricular activities is great - and if you own these qualities and write strong essays about them I think you are competitive.
