Hi everyone... I have been an avid follower of this forum for almost a year. My desire to beat the GMAT started as soon as I started contemplating on my career change.
Brief Background : I did my graduation from the National Defence Academy, Pune, India. Got commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a Fighter Pilot but later on converted into Helicopters. Served for around 9 years before hanging my uniform on 08 Jun 11.
GMAT: Started preparation as early as Sep 10. But it was in bits and pieces as I was too busy with my work and also the process of my retirement from the Air Force involved too much of paper work. But I went all out with a vengeance from the end of June till I gave my GMAT yesterday (19 Sep 11). Since I was totally out of touch of study pattern and course required in the GMAT since long I had to start all over again starting from brushing up the very basic concepts.
Materials Used:
1. OG 11, OG 12 and Official Quant and Verbal Supplements.
2. MGMAT all 8 Books.
3. Aristotle Grail SC.
4. RC 99.
5. e-gmat SC and CR(I bought the whole thing and it was of tremendous help)

1. Powerprep 1 - 700 Q49V37 10 Aug 11.
2. MGMAT 1 - 680 Q47V36 18 Aug 11.
3. MGMAT 2 - 660 Q44V36 29 Aug 11.
4. GMAT PREP 1 - 730 Q49V40 30 Aug 11.
4. MGMAT 3 - 710 Q45V41 03 Sep 11.
5. MGMAT 4 - 640 Q48V31 05 Sep 11.(Couldn't complete my Verbal)

Experience: GMAT needs lot of hard work, diligence and practice. Basically pattern recognition. Some may hack the whole thing in a few days or a month, but for lesser mortals like me lot of hard work is a must. I was lucky since I wasn't working the whole 2 and half months prior to my exam and had lot of time to study. I studied on an average of 5 hrs a day....
As far as the test is concerned I found the test somewhat in sync with the level of MGMAT tests and tad higher than the GMAT Prep tests.
Finally, beatthegmat has been a tremendous motivator and also someone who has always brought me back to ground whenever I tended to grow little overconfident...Thanks to everyone and all the best. Pardon me for the gramatical errors.... TC
