What is the value of y?

(1) When y is multiplied by 6, the result is between 40 and 45.
(2) When y is multiplied by 3, the result is between 19 and 23.

Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.

Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.

BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.

Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT SUFFICIENT

When y is multiplied by 6, the result is between 40 and 45.
let y =7
then 6y =42. Satisfied..
let y= 7.25
then, 6y = 43.5.. satisfied
So no specific y exists..

When y is multiplied by 3, the result is between 19 and 23.
let y = 7,
3y=21..satisfied
let y = 7.25
3y=21.75..satisfied

So no specific y exists..

now combining both.
we see that both 7 and 7.25 satisfy this.. Hence no specific y exists..

pick E

Hope this helps!!
