Is Sales Singular or plural

Can someone please tell Sales is Singular or plural. As far as I know Revenue is singular...please tell if I am wrong here.

Kindly tell which all of the following are correct in GMAT...

1. Sales last year were.....
2. Sales last year was....
3. Revenue last year was.....
4. Revenue last year were....

1 & 3. Sales is plural, while revenue isn't. This is tricky though... I'm interested in hearing other opinions as well. :)

Please note that there are a few word that end with "s" but still are singular:

1. politics
2. ethics

etc.

Oh, I didn't know about that :shock: Hmm, so these sentences are correct?

People should be involved in politics, because it has the potential to affect everybody in the world.

Professional ethics is important for anybody aspiring to enter a top business school.
Have you wondered how you could have found such a treasure? -T

Yes they are correct wrt S-V...not sure about any other GMAT dislinking in these sentences though :-)
