The scientist has looked at what the associate has adduced/deduced in his book and checked if it conclusive.

is it adduced or deduced.

adduced is a better fit here.having said that when Did GMAC added this has their mode of testing in Verbal?Strange!!Winner here" wish GMAC doesn't see this kind of questions ..else they may also add this pattern.
