Please clarify on the pronoun concept used here.
If a pronoun is used as the subject of a verb, we use 'she.' She intends to do x.
But if the pronoun is used as an object, we use 'her.' Note that both verbs and prepositions take objects. 'Mary was delighted when Tim hugged her. (her = object of the verb "hugged." Mary was delighted when Tim gave a book to her. (You can think of "her" as the object of the preposition "to" or as the indirect object of the verb "gave."
The correct phrase would be "Except for her," as "her" would be the object of the preposition "for."
