Materials Needed or Books Needed to do good on the GMAT?

Hey guys

I would like you guys to recommend me the best books i can study from in order for me to do good on the GMAT. I was going to pay Manhattan GMAT for their preparation courses but i was told if i do my own studying i probably do ok on the GMAT. I would like to know which books you guy recommend for each session of the GMAT. Please give me details, as i will buy this book online. Thanks a lot for your help.

Just so you guys know, i was told that this books were good enough for me to take the GMAT please let me know what you guys think?

ENGLISH:
-Verbal: OG 12
-sentence correction Manhattan SC WHICH EDITION?
-Critical Reasoning (CR) Kaplan WHICH ONE OF THEM?
-For Reading Comprehension (RC), OG 11
-ARCO GRE WHICH EDITION?

MATH:
-OG math WHICH EDITION?
-4GMAT's math materials ALL THE MATERIALS FOR MATH?

Hi Netmata,

For the Official Guide books, you should definitely go with the 12th edition for both Math and Verbal. The lateste versions of the official guides partnered with drilling your fundamentals should be the base for any preparation.From this base, being exposed to a variety of test taking strategies and sample problems is hugely important. Try to become familiar with those problem types of the GMAT that are a bit uncommon or counter-intuitive (ie. data sufficiency).

In relation to books, we've heard relatively good things from students about the Kaplan 800, though the problems are not quite in the 800 range. That can be a good tool for preparation! Our students tell us our math problems are some of the most difficult they've seen. Manhattan GMAT Number Properties
Manhattan GMAT Fractions Decimals and Percents
Manhattan GMAT Equations Inequalities and VICs
Manhattan GMAT Word Translations
Manhattan GMAT Geometry
Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction
Powerscore Critical Reasoning Bible
OG 11 or 12.

Also, you may want to visit your local library. I would recommend starting with Kaplan Premier or Princeton Review just to get a general feelf or the material. Go through eitther of those books in their entirety and then begin with the books I suggested. You should be ready in 3-4 months depending on your pace.

A couple of things. If you plan on buying all of the MGMAT guides, I think they have a bundle option where you can buy all of them for a percentage of the full price. Also, check out amazon. In terms of Critical Reasoning, I really think you should go through the Powerscore guide, but its your call.

I will take your advice and will buy the Powerscore critical reasoning too plus all the MGMAT. Hopefully i can score at-least 600 on the GMAT when i take it. What do you think?

If you go through all of those materials and get less than a 600 I would be surprised

I see....well i am going to do my best!!! Time is limited too. The application dead line for my MBA is on May and i need to take the GMAT before then.

One question is English your first language? If not, one thing that you may want to start today is reading the economist for 30 minutes a day to help you prepare for the Reading Comprehension section.

No English is not my first language, It is Spanish, that's why i am a little bit worry about the GMAT. However i did ok in College. I graduated with a 3.65 GPA, but i do need a good score on the GMAT so that i can get accepted for Grad School.

hey guys now that i bought all the preparation tools from GMAT Manhattan (The Manhattan GMAT Complete Prep Set) i am wondering how should i start my own studying?there are some mane books(like 12 total) that i dont even know where to start!
any suggestion on how i should start studying and where to focus a lot?
