When you see something as huge as this, it signals that you should plug-in numbers and use POE technique.

If y = 4, and x = 0, instead of a triangle, you will have a straight line with the length of 4!

it will be like this Q ------------- R

Now, according to the question, you will walk this line twice, so the total distance will be 8.

Assume z = 2, so it will take you 4 hours to finish the task.

Now once you plug these numbers (x = 0, y = 4, z= 2), there is only one choice that gives you 4.

Acc to question..

You will get a right angle triangle .. with P and Q in straight line

and R exactly down the point Q...

Now PQ = x and QR = y..
so PR= sqrt(x^2 + y^2)

Thus time will be Distance/speed

(y+ sqrt(x^2 + y^2))/z
