2 SC questions .. parallalism/comparison

Q1: Scientists have found that (skin tissue is more resistant to toxic substances than lung tissue and uses) sweat glands to protect the immune system from possible invaders.

A. skin tissue is more resistant to toxic substances than lung tissue and uses
B. skin tissue is more resistant to toxic substances than is lung tissue and uses
C. skin tissue is more resistant to toxic substances, more so than lung tissue, using
D. the resistance of skin tissue to toxic substances is more than that of lung tissue, and it uses
E. the resistance of skin tissue to toxic substances is more than that of lung tissue, using

Q2: In response to losing a significant part of its market share to a competitor, the soft drink company has cut costs by witholding executive bonuses, (changed their advertising agency , and have) redesigned the company logo

A. changed their advertising agency , and have
B. changed their advertising agency , as well as
C. has changed its advertising agency, and
D. and changed its advertising agency, and has
E. changed its advertising agency, and

I was able to find satisfactory explanations:

Q 1. B. - the only choice with parallel construction: skin tissue is more resistant than is lung tissue

A - resistant is compared to tissue
C - a multitude of errors: parallelism, awkward construction, and unclear referent
D - what is "it"?
E - what does "using" refer to?

Q 2. E

A, B are out for using "their" as a referent for a "company"
C is out for failing to maintain parallelism: has cut, has changed, and redesigned
D is out for failing to maintain parallelism and using "and" twice in the ordered list
E is the right answer: the company HAS cut, changed and redesigned. has here applies to all verbs in the list - perfectly parallel

I guess the answer for Q1 is A

as the idiom says X is more resistant to Y than Z.

correct me if am wrong

Q2--- answer should be D.....

seems correct.....coz of the usage of HAS

In Q#2, the correct items for which you want parallelism at the same time are:

- cut costs by witholding executive bonuses
- changed their advertising agency
- redesigned the company logo

All three things are in response to "losing market share" and there are no sub groups for the three actions carried out. There cannon be an "and" between the executive bonuses and the advertising agency items b/c they the only part of the sentence they have in common is "the soft drink company has"

E is correct for Q#2

Q#1 is difficult, but B makes the most sense....

Q1. I would go with option B. The comparison is between skin tissue and lung tissue resistance to toxic substances and not between skin tissue resistance to toxic substances and lung tissue.

Q2. E represents the best parallel structure.

Option A .

THIS IS THE CORRECT ANSWER.

Option B.
skin tissue is more resistance to toxic substance than is lung tissue and uses'
This option would have been correct but the use of 'is' in the sentence has technically nullified the validity of the sentence.
Option C.
'skin tissue is more resistant to toxic substances, more so than lung tissue, using'
'more so than' this is a bad grammar construction,it definitely renders the sentence invalid.
Option D.
the resistance of skin tissue to toxic substance is more than that of lung tissue and it uses.
there's a problem with the use of 'it' in this sentence
Option E.
The resistance of skin tissues to toxic substances is more than that of lung tissues, using'
'using' has cause this option to be incorrect,the usage of 'using' does not compliment the preceding statement
