Hello ,
i just got a 660 49 Q(86%), 31 V(58%) score on GMAT.

I have 3.4 gpa in undergraduate. 5 years of IT experience, I am also a writer of some repute, ie.a I have two publications.

I also have a MS in Computer Engg. from Univ of Maryland Baltimore County where I have 3.2 gpa? Should I include this too?

I am aiming for Smith at MD or McDonogh Georgetown or Stern NY for MBA in Information systems.

Please assess my chances.

thanks

Smith and Georgetown you should have a reasonable shot of getting in, assuming your applications (essays, rec letters, interviews) are well executed. NYU is going to be a stretch, unless you boost that GMAT significantly (i.e. 700+).

Hello Shantanu

You should know that Gmat is not the only criteria that determines your chances.Check out these articles about ECA and how you can use it to leverage your profile. https://futureworks.co.in/knowledgecenter/.

Make sure you follow the 'show rather than tell' principle so that the admissions committee could really understand your strengths and differentiating factors."

Generally most of the candidates applying for MBA have a good 4-5 years of work experience. Although it is not just the work experience that counts but also what you did there like- what you did there like-what were your achievements, what initiative you took, what changes you drove in your workplace etc. So if you can show that in terms of work that you have demonstrated the skills business schools are looking for you could put in a strong set of essays.

Also start thinking what makes you unique and what's that 'hook' that will be key to your application.

All the best!!
Thanks!

You are very competitive for Smith, Georgetown, and Stern part-time. If you plan to apply to Stern full-time, I suggest you consider retaking the GMAT to obtain a closer score to their average.

Good luck,

Thanks Mr. Cohan. I recieved my AWA, got a 5 out of 6.

Would you recommend taking gmat again if I feel I can only go upto 700-710 from 660, if I am looking for smith, georgetown or Stern?
I will so appreciate a frank assessment.

Thanks a lot
