I wouldn't recommend the CR1000 (or any 1000) docs because as you say the questions are a bit dubious.
If you are looking for practice, the next best thing after the OG books are the books by the GMAT test prep companies. If you really want something not produced by the companies, you should take a look at MBA.com and think about ordering the old paper tests. Great content there, but not in the CAT format.
