Can someone clarify the following please:

Is MGMAT = Manhattan GMAT CAT tests that come on a CD? If so, how many are there on the CD that comes with the book?
Also, does the Manhattan SC book come with a CD that have full practice tests?

Thanks,
Sam

I have the MGMAT SC book. The 6 tests that are included are online. The book gives you a serial number ect.

Manhattangmat.com register and you are ready to go.

Just want to caution guys that no test prep company is going to mimic the GMAT exactly. The closest imitation you'll get is GMAT Prep, since that's made by the actual makers of the GMAT (GMAC).

I agree with Eric! Thoug MGMAT is a very good prep test, their questions are somewhat different in structure from the "real" ones.
Aside from GMATPrep, don't forget GMATFocus as well, which is made by the creators of GMAT as well!!

Curious.

by dwityk » Fri Feb 27, 2009 1:37 pm
I am very curious about this as well, because I am taking the test on Monday. Over the past week I've been taking the Manhattan GMAT tests online and my scores have improved significantly, even though I honestly feel like my performance hasn't improved at all.

Over the past week my practice test scores have gone from 690, 640, 670, 700, 710, to 740.

I'm beginning to doubt the accuracy of these tests, especially because Kaplan's have been quite a bit lower (though I haven't taken many of those yet).

So, what do you think? Should I still hold my expectations down and expect quite a bit less, or can I feel justified in feeling a little confident going into test day on Monday.

(Also, I should note that it's my Quantitative that I'm not at all confident on, my Verbal's been consistently mid-90th percentiles.)

dwityk dude if you are getting these scores on CATs, there is no reason why you shouldn't get the same on the actual test. If I were in your shoes I would go in with the attitude of repeating my 740. With verbal in the 90s and a little focus on quantitative, you should be able to pull an easy 700+!

G'luck to you and let us know how you do on Monday !

Cheers,
Sam

I don't think the exam is necessarily harder or easier... the questions are just structured differently. I could see someone scoring better or worse on the MGMAT exams than on the real GMAT. Personally, I scored a little higher on my GMAT Prep exams and my actual exam than I did on the MGMAT exams.

My point exactly as well. Questions on MGMAT are structured differently, but I often find them more difficult to understand and to translate than similar official questions, which in turn results in a loss of time (precious time!).
