A weakening the reason problem

by limestone » Tue Sep 07, 2010 12:40 am
Many persons have advocated simplifying English words so that they are spelled exactly as they sound. For instance,"knock" would be spelled "nock".
What of the following can cast a serious doubt on the above statement?
A. Such modification would be confusing to people who do not speak the English language.
B. The modification may result in having to change the type on typewriter.
C. Pronunciations of words change over time and may vary from one region to another.
D. Most spelling modification programs have not been carefully thought out by the advocates.
E. Modification may be confusing to young children.
OA: A
IMO: C , Do not know why C is incorrect, anyone helps explain?

I am guessing this is some sort of LSAT question? I don't think this question meets GMAT's CR criteria and should be discarded.
Yep.

It's just an unofficial source that I found on the internet. It's a weakening-the-reason problem. IMO, the author is asking for reason why people should not simplify English words.
