From 530 to 640 to ?

by [email protected] » Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:20 am
I am preparing for GMAT to apply for a part-time MBA in Canada.

I have my GMAT end of this sat. In the tests that i wrote so far, timing is not a problem. I spend little more time in the beginning and at the end i get easier questions as the CAT identifies my level perfectly when i am close to 30th question.

Official GMAT 530 (Q40, V23) - Sep 2010
Prepared with only Kaplan premier online - No OG guides were used

In Nov, i purchased OG guides and MGMAT study guides. Prepared with these guides. My current preparation status is below (CAT with essays):-

MGMAT - CAT 1 29-Dec-10 590 (Q46, V24)
MGMAT - CAT 2 31-Dec-10 630 (Q44, V32)
MGMAT - CAT 3 2-Jan-10 580 (Q44, V26)
MGMAT - CAT 4 8-Jan-10 590 (Q42, V31)
MGMAT - CAT 5 15-Jan-10 640 (Q45, V33)
GMAT Prep CAT 16-Jan-10 640 (Q45, V33)

Official GMAT 22-Jan-10 Aiming 660

Identified my weak-areas as
a) Variables in the expressions(VICs - wrong everytime)
b) Reading Comprehension (75% wrong)
c) Critical reasoning (25% wrong)

I am reading articles in BeatTheGMAT forums and working on the three weak areas this week.
Any last minute tips to improve my accuracy is appreciated.

I plan to write one more CAT from MGMAT on 20-Jan-10 to ensure consistency.

Do the MGMAT Flash cards if you can. They will brush up the basics for you. Don't work on something completely new at the last minute.

Good luck.

75% wrong on RC? Have you taken anymore GMAT Prep exams? These are the official exams offered when you register. A 660 might be tough if you are only getting 1/4 RC question right.
