Hi,

I will be writing my test after 10 weeks.

I am planning to go through the following material:

1) OG10
2) OG11
3) OG12
4) OG Verbal Review 2nd Ed
5) OG Quant Review 1st Ed
6) Manhattan's all 7 books 3rd Ed
7) Kaplan Advanced 2008-2009 Ed
8) GMAT Prep tests
9) MGMAT tests

Is this material sufficient for the preparation or shall I add/remove something?
What about the books that I am using old editions of? Shall I purchase new ed?

What have I done till now?

GMAT Prep test 1 - Q49/V29, Score: 650
MGMAT SC
MGMAT FPD
OG11 SC
OG11 PS
OG Quant review - PS
Kaplan Advanced - PS

I could time my SC questions well but got 38 (out of 138) of them wrong even after going through MGMAT SC.
How can I improve my SCs?

The material is good--the order, not so much. Make sure you START with either MGMAT of Kaplan (naturally, I recommend Kaplan, But I'm biased) Grinding through OG problems without a test-prep company's breakdown of the question type, content, and strategy of those problems is a recipe for a waste of time. Make sure you understand what each question type is asking, how each question type is broken down into smaller categories, how to identify and approach each of those categories, and what mathematical, logical, or grammatical issue is likely to be tested in each of those categories. Then, and only then, should you start putting that theory into practice with the OG books and the prep tests.

As for the specific question, how can you improve SCs, there are several steps that come back to that first piece of advise. Focus not just on the grammar issues themselves, but on the indicators that they might be there. Are we talking about a 'company'? Safe bet one of the wrong answer choices will refer to the company as 'they' instead of 'it', since the GMAT loves that mistake. See the word 'like'? Dollars to donuts we're going to have an incorrect comparison somewhere. The Kaplan SC material will help you a great deal with those common errors and traps.

Best of luck on Test Day, and let me know if I can answer any other questions!
