Hii

In Op D, the pronoun IT has no antecedent...if you are confused with CHINA'S then please note IT can not refer to a possessive pronoun (CHINA'S is a possessive in this question)

Only possessive pronouns such as HIS, Their etc can refer back to POSSESSIVE NOUNS.

Op E is also wrong for the same reason

Hope this help

I think this is correct. Why do you think this is wrong.

Also for parallelism.
The reason that China has become..... is that it has the ability to provide..... and, offer ..... But this is correct in all 5 option.

Let me provide Explanation for all 5 option because we chose Concise choice when we left with two or more grammatically correct answer.

A. Grammatically Wrong :- Misuse of the Superlative largest. Largest must be preceded by the word the.
B. Grammatically Wrong :- The reason ... because.. = Redundant and this redundancy classified as specific redundancy ( in Master GMAT) which has to be corrected.
D. Grammatically Wrong :- The Superlative form ( the largest) requires that the group ("in the world") under comparison be defined. i.e. In order for Superlative to be complete, group must be defined. In this choice group "in the world" is missing.
E. Grammatically Wrong: Same as A. Misuse of the Superlative largest. Largest must be preceded by the word the.

That's leave C which is perfectly written.

Honestly speaking I never use to pay attention on such small grammatical mistakes but after knowing all these I get more than 1 reason to cross of options.

Enjoy Hope you guys learnt some thing new :).
Regards
Abhishek

Very useful Abhishek. Just tells you there are many *simple* ways to eliminate SC answers if you pay close attention. Keep those Q's coming :D

The reason that China has become largest manufacturer of consumer goods in the world is that it has the ability to provide huge work forces at low costs and, therefore, offer prices that cannot be competed with.

Initially, I see nothing wrong in the given sentence. So, I go through the options to evaluate them and pick the best among the lot.

A. The reason that China has become largest manufacturer of consumer goods in the world is that it has the ability to provide huge work forces at low costs and, therefore, offer prices that cannot be competed with.
B. The reason that China has become the largest manufacturer of consumer goods in the world is because of its ability to provide huge work forces at low costs and, therefore, offer prices that cannot be competed with - Redundancy.
C. China has become the largest manufacturer of consumer goods in the world because it has the ability to provide huge work forces at low costs and, therefore, offer prices that cannot be competed with. Active voice, clear subject and more precise.
D. Because of China's ability to provide huge work forces at low costs and, therefore, offer prices that cannot be competed with, it has become the largest manufacturer of consumer goods - Passive.E. Because of China's ability to provide huge work forces at low costs and, therefore, offer prices that cannot be competed with, it has become largest manufacturer of consumer goods in the world - Passive

Great post .. after looking at Target2009's post, I learnt that superlative forms are always preceded by 'the'.

Thanks. Keep posting fundas.
