Please Evaluate my profile.

Dear Accepted.com,

Good day to you. Could you take a look at my profile and suggest some schools for my preference?

GMAT:700 (49,35) 3rd attempt. 26, Indian IT male (sigh!) non-IIT. 4+ years of experience in a US based MNC (fortune 25, if brand really matters.) Undergrad = ~75% (first class with distinction) high school = 91%

Career progression not that great. One promotion, won about 3 awards for exceptional performance. But still can get excellent recos from high levels of management.

XCs/Comm-service:

* Core member of cultural committee member in my company for past two years. Organized an assortment of events from carnival to collage. 2+ years
* Teaching under-priv school kids (5th grade basic maths and English on alternate saturdays) - almost 2 years. My organization recognized my efforts and rewarded with a memento and cash. Needless to say, the cash was donated to the school.
* Was part of a massive beach clean up activity in my city. Well covered by the media.
* Volunteer for a Canada based NGO that deals with refugee issues (apprx 2 years, all work handled over internet). My work is to coordinate volunteer writers across globe and allocate them assignments. I have also interviewed many refugees, and have got those articles published in the online newsletter.
* Collaborated with WHO and other international volunteers in producing a software to calculate malnutrition in children for a NY based doctor. One of a kind (assessed by WHO themselves). Project already piloted in an African country. Project still in progress...

Hobbies: Blogging (been maintaining a blog for 5 years), writing (got an article published in my city edition of a national daily). Trekking and traveling.

Schools that I chose on exam day: Darden (dream!), Fisher, Ross, ISB, Rotman. My preference is to get into general management or technology management. I am open to finance if you think rotman is possible.

I would like to know whether being in an overrepresented category would affect my chances of getting in aforementioned schools. Also, could you also suggest some schools for my profile and preferences please?

Thanks in advance!

Since schools value diversity, being a member of an over-represented group does make it somewhat harder to get accepted. Your challenge as a member of an over represented group becomes differentiating yourself and moving beyond the superficial labels.

Please see:
*Labels and Groups.
* Being Yourself
* Response to "Shortlisting MBA Programs."

To address your question about schools. You have a chance at Darden, ISB, and [urlhttps://www.accepted.com/mba/MichiganRoss.aspx]Ross[/url], but they are stretch programs. You have a competitive profile for Rotman and Fisher. Also consider UNC, UT, Indiana Kelley, Rochester, and Cornell.

Best,
Linda
