odd integers are greater

Hi there,

I would like to know the simplest process to resolve this DS. Explanation is requested.

How many odd integers are greater than the integer x and less than the integer y ?

(1) There are 12 even integers greater than x and less than y.
(2) There are 24 integers greater than x and less than y

IMO B
1) The number of odd numbers will depend upong whether x is even or odd.
ex: take x=3 and y=6
there are two even numbers and 1 odd number between 2 and 6
take x=2 and y=6
again there are 2 even numbers but there are now 2 odd numbers

NOT SUFF

2).As in the example above, the number of odd number changes when you change the total number of integers between x and y.

lets say if x is even
Y must be odd
number of odd integers wll be 12
if x is odd, y is even
number of odd numbers will be the same.
SUFF
The powers of two are bloody impolite!!
