For Rs. 1000, 10000 kgs are carried 100 kms by goods train.If the rate of carriage by ship is one-fourth of that by rail,for how many kms can 8000 kgs be carried for Rs.800 by ship?

(D)500
(E)625

for 1 Kg, 1 kg the rate in train = 10^3/10^4*10^2 = 10^-3
Ship rate = 10^-3/4 = 2.5*10^-4

Kms that can be carried by a ship with 8000kg and for 800 Rs = 800/(8000* 2.5*10^-4) =400

by train Rs. 1000 --> 10000kgs --->100 kms
Rs. 100 --> 1000 kgs ---> 100 kms

since rate of carriage by ship is one-fourth of that by rail, so
Rs. 25 --> 1000 kgs ---> 100 kms
Rs. 200 --> 8000kgs ---> 100 kms
Rs. 800 --> 8000 kgs ---> [spoiler]400 kms Ans (c)[/spoiler]
