Lack of Professional Recommendations

I have only had 1 employer since I left undergrad. I do not want this employer to know that I am applying to B-schools, as I will most likely be leaving the company for a full time program and a career change.

Can anyone provide any examples of alternate or non-traditional recommenders that I could seek out for a statement?

Hi Nathan, you can ask your lecturers with whom you have closely worked (final year project). You can probably even ask your indirect supervisors too on whom you can confide. :)

Definitely a pickle but not an entirely uncommon one. A college professor is going to be too long ago, but a peer might be an option. Another one is to look to activities you're involved in (outside of work). Or perhaps a diagonal higher-up you can trust (mentor at your company)? Schools understand you might not want to let your employer know but it does put you at a disadvantage.

not entirely uncommon, as noted. Make sure you explain your situation in the optional essay provided by the schools. Clients might also be another avenue to explore. Steer clear of friends, family, and faculty (unless you have continued a relationship with a faculty after you graduated). cheers, alex

Few options here:
-Someone in a leadership position in an extracurricular activity you participate
-Colleague, who can speak to your work and progress
-College Professor, who you have developed a strong relationship with

Don't be afraid to use the optional essay to explain these decisions either
