Hi Experts,

I dint really understand why each is not considering each one of the items mentioned In the list, why do we rather use 'generate' and not generates?

Hi,

Whenever any plural subject is followed by EACH then verb should agree in number with the subject i.e. verb should be plural.

But whenver sentence starts then verb used is always singular
eg :- EACH OF THESE SHIRTS is DIRTY

What's the source of the question please? The right answer makes me a uneasy as well. I would have been ok with:

1) Each of the three carriers, A, B, and C, generates $1 billion
2) The three carriers, A, B, and C, generate $1 billion each
  • Ask me about tutoring.
