Fast Cycle Time

by quocbao » Sun Mar 22, 2009 5:47 am
"Fast cycle time" is a strategy of designing a manufacturing organization to eliminate bottlenecks and delays in production. Not only does it speed up production but it also assures quality. The reason is that the bottlenecks and delays cannot be eliminated unless all work is done right the first time

the reasoning based on which assumption

A. any flaw in work on a product would cause a bottleneck or delay and so would be prevented from occurring on "fast cycle" product line

B. the strategy of "fast cycle time" would require fundamental rethinking of product design

C. the primary goal of the organization is to produce a product of unexcelled quality, rather than to generate profits for stock-holders

D. "fast cycle time" could be achieved by shaving time off each of the component processes in a production cycle

E. "fast cycle time" is a concept in business strategy that has not yet been put in a factory

OA: A
I choose D at first time. Then using POE I can choose A, but does anyone has other explanation ?
IMO A

Well if u read carefully u will observe that the author has changed his point suddenly in the last line. First he talks bout fast cycle time relation with bottleneck and delay...then talks bout quality and when he gives the reason he relates the bottlenecks and delays to "doing this right the first time " whereas in the first sentence he relates bottlenecks and delays to "fast cycle time". thus u get a point that the author might have assumed a relation btwn " fast cycle time" and "doing things right the first time"

the first option clearly states the assumption.

I'd say A but I'm afraid more because of my intuition than any logic.
