Guys, i got this topic to write an issue essay on.. i do not get the exact meaning of this stem above. Please explain me what is the exact meaning of this statement and what are the points that should be covered to write an essay about this.. My main querry is the meaning of this stem..

The glass ceiling is a term that refers to people only being able to get up to a certain point in a company/organization (usually middle management) before hitting the "glass ceiling" that prevents them from moving up any further, usually due to discrimination.

This is a sort of weird prompt (where is it from?) but what it's pretty much saying is that the glass ceiling (discrimination against women) prevents them from psychologically seeing themselves as moving up the corporate ladder, which hinders progress.
