Scored only 600 in Kaplan CAT.

by StarDust845 » Sun Jan 06, 2008 11:54 am
I have only three more weeks left for GMAT. I took a recent KAPLAN test and found (much to my dismay) that I scored only 600. I am targeting in the range 700 in actual GMAT.

Do I need to worry and kick up my preparation in the last three weeks (I haven't started the preparation for essays yet)?

Calista.

This point has been discussed many times in this forum. The general opinion is that Kaplan test scores are skewed on the lower side. If I were you, I would give importance to GMAT prep scores.

Don't be discouraged by the score you got on the Kaplan exam. Really, you shouldn't be using any exam as a prognosis; you should try to use practice exams as indicators of your strengths and weaknesses. Besides, all exams--the GMAT included--have relatively large margins of error, so your performance will likely vary from test to test.
Give the GMATPrep exams a try, and continue using the Kaplan exams to hone in on particularly difficult material.
Best of luck!
