m is a positive integer and (m)=3m when m is odd and (m) =m\2 when m is even . what would be the value of (9) *(6)?

a)81
b)27
c)26
d)49

i got a) but the oa is b) , am i missing something in the question?

9 is odd, so (9) is 3*9 = 27

6 is even, so (6) is 6/2 = 3

therefore (9) *(6) = 27*3 = [spoiler]81.

A

I got the same answer you did. B would make perfect sense if those answers were in parenthesis as well, because (27) would actually be 27 x 3, and that would be 81. But without the brackets, B doesn't make sense to me either. Maybe we're both missing something. :)

the options are posted wrongly
actually the options are in brackets
therfore the ans will be (27), which is equal to 81

i am quiet sure that the answer choices were not in brackets . But the answer choices in brackets seem to be the only explanation as to how we can get 27 and not 81
