GMAT Coaching Institutes - Is it worth?

by mehravikas » Mon Dec 08, 2008 8:12 pm
Hi All,

I appeared for GMAT a month ago and my first experience wasn't a pleasant one. I scored 540 (Q - 40, V - 25), AWA - 5.0 on the actual GMAT. I am weak in verbal and was never able to get past 30 sectional score.

I don't want to repeat the same mistakes in my second attempt. Can anyone please guide whether it is worth to join GMAT coaching institutes? I am thinking of having my own study plan and join a coaching institute.

I have heard that Princeton Review and Jamboree are quite good.

Please respond your help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vikaas Mehra

Vikaas,
Not sure if u prefer self study or attending a class. If u feel more comfortable attending a class then yes. I have read a good review from a Princeton review class room user.

If u think u can manage with self study:

Sentence Correction: Manhattan GMAT sentence correction 3rd edition

Critical Reasoning - Powerscore GMAT sentence correction bible

Reading comprehension : Any GMAT prep book should be suffcient

Dear Cramya,

I have gone through OG11, Kaplan & Manhattan GMAT SC guide. I just want to me sure shot for my next attempt. I think guidance would make a difference in the preparation.

I want to know whether these institutes teach something new or not.

Thanks,
Vikaas

Please do not join Princeton review classes in India, for sure. I have taken the course and it serves the same purpose as visceral belly fat. :x
