Gmat Prep question 4

Q. In a typical rectangular coordinate system (I, II, III, IV quadrants), does line K intersect quandrant II?

1. The slope of K is -1/6

2. The Y intercept of K is -6

Hi,
Think about any line with negative slope.

as x goes on increasing y becomes the fallen angel :-)

now think of any line that intersects(touches x-axis and y-axis) quadrant 2.
Can it have negative slope?

hence STMT 1 is SUFF.


STMT 2. the line cuts Y axis at ( 0,-6) again try in how many different direction a line can go from here. Will they intersect quad 2?

hence stmt 2 is Suff.

IMO ans is D.

B is insuff. We can draw the line K so that it would intersect any of I,III,IV quandrants, but not II.
