PLEASE HELP - 440 Q29/V22

by rockstarsab » Wed Apr 18, 2012 4:17 am
Well took the gmat prep 1 test today b4 starting my prepartions for gmat, got the score that was expected..
Q29/V22 TOTAL-440

My only solace is in the fact that I have a lot of time to improve, would definately take this core to 750+
If the respected members can provide any suggestions to my plan, I would be grateful.

Well I am also preparing for C.A. exams, so i have whole 2 years for both..

I have been frequently coming to the forum and trying to customise my strategy

I have devided my prep into 3 phases..

PHASE 1- (I would like to work on my verbal first, as being non native I really dont have good English skills..)

July 2012 to Feb 2013- ( 3 Hours daily) for 8 months

FOR SC - Mgmat SC
POWERSCORE SC

FOR CR- POWERSCORE LR
MGMAT CR / PowerScore Gmat CR

FOR RC- MGMAT RC

Economist + New Yorker
Fiction books

For reading speed-
Triple Your Reading Speed by Wade E. Cutler
How to Read Better and Faster by Norman Lewis

For vocabulary-
Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis
30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary by Wilfred Funk

Verbal advantage(if time as it is very comprehensive)

For grammar-
common errors in english usage
ENGLISH GRAMMAR WORKBOOK FOR DUMMIES
LITTLE GOLD GRAMMAR BOOK
WREN & MARTIN GRAMMAR

And OG verbal 12, McGraw-Hill's Conquering the GMAT Verbal and Writing

QUANT- NO PRACTICE(The reason is though I didnt get the score, I think I can prepare for it quickly
and also I dont think I will be able to retain the tricks for 2 years)

END OF PHASE 1-Will definately like to see my verbal shooting to 30+

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PHASE 2-

June 2013 to Feb 2014( 3.5 hours daily) for 9 months

For verbal- Error log created in phase 1
Gmat pill for RC and e-gmat for SC and CR(if necessary)
Aristotle (if necessary)

For quant- MGMAT guide
MGMAT Maths Foundations
Kaplan Gmat workbook/Veritas Prep Guides(if necessary)
Veritas Prep Combinations & Probability
Jeff Sackmann's Extreme Challenge set / Ariel Goldberg's GMAT Quant Problems(If time)

END OF PHASE 2- I should be getting Q 35+/ V 35+
Will take GMAT Prep test

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PHASE 3-
May 15 to Sep 15 (10 hours daily) for 4 months

This is the last and most important phase, so will definately up the hardwork..
My C.A. exams will be over till now, and I woul be waiting for the results, which generally takes 2- 2.5 months..

Now , strategy in this phase will depend upon, the Gmat prep score I had taken in February 2014 (end of phase 2)

Books for this stage-
Veritas Prep Combinations & Probability
Jeff Sackmann's Extreme Challenge set
Ariel Goldberg's GMAT Quant Problems

LSAT RC passages
