I do not think it should make any difference as long as you can prove that the school's specific offerings match your interest and needs to help you achieve your career goals. The Ad Com only care about how well you can answer the following questions;

Do you have a clear plan for future?
Are they a good fit for you?
What value you would bring to the school?

I would tend to concur with Jon on this issue. Having already been at a school and done well is certainly a signal that you can handle the rigor.

But also keep in mind that having gone to a certain school will put you into a bucket, and you will be competing with others who have that same advantage. And a school will not take an endless number of applicants from any given school.

So at the end of the day, it helps, but the competition is nonetheless fierce.

Focus on what you can control now--storng gmat, memorable essays, great recs...
