ESSAY QUESTION:
"Some people claim that the measure of a successful government is in how well it directly supports the poorer members of society. Others claim that if the government focuses on lifting the wealthier members, the benefits will reverberate throughout the social structure and the standard of living will rise for everyone."
In your view, to what extent should government be responsible for supporting those members of society who struggle to support themselves? Explain, giving relevant reasons and/or examples to support your position.
The government should focus more on lifting the wealthier members more than supporting those members of society who struggle to support themselves. Wealthier members generate most of the businesses and boost the economy, but poorer members can't do either of these.
About 90% of all businesses and cash-flows come from 1% of the wealthiest members. These members create new businesses, job openings and also benefit the economy market. Government supporting the wealthier members will successfully boost the economy.
Wealthier people have higher spending on various areas, such as consumer goods, real estate properties, and commercial goods. This generate businesses to most companies, and create more job openings to people. Poorer members will have the benefit to secure their businesses and jobs from high spending by wealthier people.
Poorer people can't impact to develop a rich economy. Government has to spend a lot of money to assist these people, which consist majority of the population. By assisting wealthier members, it will automatically benefit the poorer members.
Therefore, a government can be successful by assisting both wealthier and poorer members of society. Thus, focusing on the wealthier members definitely benefit all the members in the society.
