After carefull analysis, I disagree with the author's statement.
Success is a quality not easily measurable nor that it is defined similarly by any two individuals. People have different perspectives of success. some might attribute success solely to financial gains and conditions of themselves , while others might view the real success in the actuall satisfaction which they get from their daily work. with regards to this , it can not be generalized that successfull people are only the ones who set their next goal some what but not too much above their previous one. Though , this statement holds true for people who view their financial and social levels as an indicator of success. These people usually follow the pattern described by author in order to improve their social and financial stand over time. As an example , a technologist who is employed in an international IT firm , might act in this manner in order to slowly walk up the hierarchy in the organization. On the other hand, a poet whose main motive is not his social stance and/or his financial conditions might not act in the same manner as descirbed by the author. Poets, like othe artists see the true meaning of success in their creations and their variety of works and their meanings.
