Can Laboratory Studies be critiqued?

Hi All,

In many of the AWA argument questions i have seen that the author refers to some LABORATORY STUDIES or FINDINGS. Can these studies be critiqued? Can we question their credibility in the response to the argument?

Why not?

Although you might be in a stronger position if you critique the conclusions the author comes to based on the results.

For example if the author claims that all rabbits like lettuce based on a study, you might want to ask whether the rabbits were hungry and would have eaten anything.

Or if it claims that young people are bad drivers based on a study that only included 10 people, you can argue its not representative of the whole population.
