Can Laboratory Studies be critiqued?

Why not?

Although you might be in a stronger position if you critique the conclusions the author comes to based on the results.

For example if the author claims that all rabbits like lettuce based on a study, you might want to ask whether the rabbits were hungry and would have eaten anything.

Or if it claims that young people are bad drivers based on a study that only included 10 people, you can argue its not representative of the whole population.
