Some people argue that the best way to advice to other people is to find out what they want and then advise them how to attain it. On the other hand some may argue that right advice must be given to people even though we don't know what they want to attain. This is controversial topic of discussion, but I would agree with the author that the best way to advice people is to understand their needs first.
One reason of my belief is that every one have different needs in their life some want to be business men, some wants to be sportsmen, some wants to be teacher and some wants to painter. There are so many different things that different people want in their life. For example, if you advice the person on how to be better sportsmen, but he wants to be painter. This type of advice is not going to help that person and the same time he will loose respect for the person who is giving him advice. However, if you understand the needs to person and what they want to achieve, you can give them right advice on how to achieve their goals. Your advice will be very helpful to the person to achieve his goals.
Another reason of my belief is that sometime advice given without any understanding of person's needs, strengths and weakness may lead that person to wrong path in their life and they will not be able to give their best performance in that area. For example, if you advice the person that he should be become doctor and show him how he can become a doctor. You don't know that this person hates studying science subject, but he like to play sports and he enjoys playing different sports. If this person will follow advice to become a doctor he will not be able to perform as he never like science and he will never be able to enjoy is work as he would have enjoyed being a sportsman.
In conclusion, I believe that arguments can be made on both side but I strongly believe that the best way to advice is to understands people's needs, their strengthens and weakness, and then give right advise them how to attain their goals.
