"All groups and organizations should function as teams in which everyone makes decisions and shares responsibilities and duties. Giving one person central authority and responsibility for a project or task is not an effective way to get work done".
To what extent do you agree or disagree with the opinion expressed above? Support your views with reasons and/or specific examples drawn from your own work or school experiences, your observations, or your reading.
Whether a group should function as a team or individual work is still a debate. While some people believe in the effectiveness of central authority and responsibility to fulfill a task, others appreciate the meaning of working together. In my opinion, teamwork in which everyone has his own voice and shared duties, is the best way to get best results and enhance the morale of team members.
Firstly, teamwork is a good way to achieve great results. In a team, everyone has the rights to raise their voices and work for the common goal of the team. Team members often have different backgrounds, knowledge and skills, so they may come up with a great variety of creative ideas or solutions to a problem. Moreover, everyone is involved in part of the job, so things get done much more quickly than in individual work.
Teamwork effectiveness was shown in the early days of human beings, in the primitive period, when people knew how to cooperate to survive. They went hunting, but always in groups. Without a group, they might find it extremely hard to kill a fierce tiger or even a gentle deer because they separately were not strong and smart enough to defeat wild animals. Going together was an effective way to support each other to approach and kill preys, and then bring them back home. Nowadays, many organizations achieve great glory based on their collaborative spirit. One example is Google, which provide the most popular search engine named "google", has become the best company in the world. Interestingly, Google is famous for its cooperation in teamwork. In Google, every team member has equal authority and highly cooperates with one another. Thus, Google makes full use of its employee's potentials to achieve its current outcoming.
Secondly, teamwork is a magical tool to improve morale of people. Working in a team, people get more chances to have mutual interaction and communication, from which they could build up good relationship among others. That, in turn, motivates them to daily work where they can mutually share their values, knowledge or sometimes feelings. Moreover, they encourage each other to work for the overall best success of their team. For instance, by working together, human has conquered Mount Everest, the most tough and hazardous challenge in the world. People who want to summit Everest often go in teams to support one another in a very long journey. Without cooperation, they may find little chance to survive in the extreme hard condition of Mount Everest. Everest climbers many times get desperate or even in vain due to the severe natural destruction of Everest. It's their companions that console and encourage them to overcome obstacles to move on together.
In summary, while putting central power in one person in carrying a task may bring some advantage, cooperation in teamwork is a fantastic way to improve the spirit of team members as well as get best accomplishments.
