[/b]"Consumers need to be protected from companies that make deceptive claims in their advertising. However, companies should always be allowed to make truthful claims, even if those claims could be misunderstood by some consumers"

Advertising is one of the factors which directly affect the purchase decision of the consumers. After seeing an advertisement about a certain product, consumers might want to get that product. Features of the product, the brand image and the price are some of the reasons why consumers decide to buy that product. Advertisements are the channels in which the companies can distribute information about their products to their consumers. Unless the consumers get the wrong information about the product then truthful advertisement will increase the consumer satisfaction. Otherwise it will decrease the market value of the companies and the products will not match with the expectations of the consumers.

The features of the products those are placed in the advertisements are very important. Since many consumers will decide to buy a certain product for its certain features, advertisements should focus on the facts related with products. After the introduction of the ""iPhone"", many other companies duplicated this product and introduced into the market similar copies of it. These companies created many advertisement campaigns in which they insisted that their products has same features of iPhone. However, many consumers had disappointments with these phones, especially with their poor touchscreen controls.

Each consumer has an expectation and it is important to match the expectations of the consumers with the brand image for the companies. A hotel company can use the slogan of ""You will feel like a king in our hotel"" for their service on an advertisement. When a consumer decides to stay in this hotel, he or she will like to get a luxury service. Companies should be very careful when it comes to advertising their products and services.

The price is also very important factor if it is being used in the advertisements. Consumers will want to get a product with the price they see on the advertisements. If not the consumers would be cheated and this is against the right of the consumers.

As a conclusion, I strongly agree that consumers need to be protected from the companies that make deceptive claims in their advertisements. The laws which are created for the consumers right needs to be reviewed carefully. The advertisements of the companies should be monitored carefully and the ones who make deceptive claims should be punished with penalties.

Consider avoiding the "since the dawn of time" approach to opening your essays; that is time you could be spending on the actual topic. You don't need to explain how advertising works to get to the heart of the argument; restate the issue in a statement that includes your opinion, and then dive right in.
