Issue:

"All Groups and Organizations should function as teams in which everyone makes decision and shares responsibilities and duties. Giving one person central authority and responsibility for a project or task is not an effective way to get work done"

My response:

To get work done, one person should be in a lead role to take over projects and delegate responsibilities and duties. By doing this, the project leader will be able to foresee deadlines, assign additional workforce and add capital if necessary. Hence, a project leader is needed in order to make decisions and delegate responsibilities.

When a project is assigned to a group within an organization, several decisions needed to be made. Example, when a hospital is in the process of opening a new care building, several areas should be looked at before the hospital can open its doors to accept patients. Prior to opening, a hospital should have the following completed and ready: license doctors, nurses, telephones, computers, fax machines, and building contracts etc.

With several people in the group and no manager to maintain authority and delegate work, the group could create unnecessary delays within the project. Decision-making can quickly get out of hand and no work would get done. To assist project leaders in completing their tasks, they have the latest applications (MS Project Manager, Hyper-office) in monitoring projects (i.e. deadlines, tasks, milestones, capital, flow charts etc). With such great applications at their disposal, project leaders can work with several groups to start and end projects successfully.

In Closing, decision making within a group should be lead by a project leader who can delegate work to others within the team. This will eventually lead to more organized way of handling tasks, duties and responsibilities.
