Which masters would be good for me?

by saurabhyad252 » Fri Jul 24, 2015 4:53 am
Hello, I am Saurabh. I have done my bachelors this year and doing internship from last three months. I wish to do masters abroad but confused about which subject I should take for specialisation, and which country I should opt for? In future I'm planning to return to India so that I can join my brother's business. Can anyone please guide me about which field and country I should choose? Thanks in advance.

Hi Saurabh, It's about choosing a field in which you are interested to make your career. In which stream you have done your bachelor's studies? Usually people do their masters depending on the subjects they have covered during their bachelor's studies. Also, when you think about studying abroad you should have a clear idea about which field you would love to go for as you will be investing huge amount for your studies.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have done my Bachelors studies in Commerce. Even being a Commerce student I don't want to make my career in finance and accounting as I am not interested in it, and so confused about choosing a different field.

Okay. I would suggest you to go for an MBA in which you can study and master all subjects related to business. As you mentioned that you are planning to join your family business, after doing an MBA you will get a broad idea about managing business. Also, studying abroad can give you an international exposure. This can boost your knowledge about businesses abroad which can be fruitful for your family business.

Hey, thanks. I agree with the point that an MBA will help me to study all subjects related to business. Could you please help me with some more information about which Country and a University would be good for me?

There are many top Universities in the world that offer an MBA course. When you want to study abroad, you should first select a country considering its economic factors. I would personally suggest you to go for Australia, Canada, Dubai, Singapore or New Zealand as these countries have good job opportunities for professionals. If you work abroad after completion of your course you will get relevant work experience before you join your family business. Out of these five countries, considering economic factors and life style, I would give preference to Australia, Canada and Singapore.

Thank you so much for the reply. Even I was planning to go for Australia as my relatives live there, so at least accommodation won't be an issue. If you have an idea about good universities/ colleges in Australia could you please guide me with that as well?

Sorry for the late reply. Sure, I will definitely help you with this as I have also done my masters from SP Jain Australia. Here are few top universities in Australia which I know because of my friends and colleagues:

"¢ Melbourne Business School,
"¢ Bond University,
"¢ S P Jain School of Global Management, and
"¢ University of Queensland.

I would suggest you to personally get information about these universities before you opt any.
