Applying round 3 to Wharton

by HealthcareMBA » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:36 pm
I have already applied to Columbia (regular decision) and Duke (round 1, accepted), but regret not applying to Wharton. What is your opinion on round 3 applications to Wharton?

Some information on me: I have a unique background (for business school) - Advanced practice nurse, GMAT 690, BS GPA 3.4, MSN GPA 3.9, 7 years of work experience, significant leadership roles but no experience as a formal manager. Would like to apply to Wharton's Healthcare Management Program to transition from practicing nurse to healthcare consulting or administration (work toward improving healthcare delivery).

Thanks!

Dear HealthcareMBA,

You certainly do not want to have regrets and always wonder "what if". Strong applicants are admitted in the final round of most programs, although the number might vary quite a bit and could be quite low depending on what the earlier rounds looked like. Based on the limited information in your post, you appear to have a competitive profile and your acceptance to Duke would indicate the other aspects of the application must have been strong. Thus you should consider applying--but get your application in as soon as possible (without sacrificing quality, of course). Worst case scenario--you are at Duke and that seems pretty great.

Best of luck,
Lisa
