0.25 + (4.90-1.75)/4*0.15 = 0.25 + 21/4 = 5.5 miles

Pay $1.75 for the first quarter mile.

$4.90 - $1.75 = $3.15
How many additional quarter miles can you get for $3.15?
Each quarter mile costs $0.15
3.15/0.15 = 21, so you can get 21 additional quarter miles for $3.15

So, altogether, we can purchase 22 quarter miles for $4.90
22 quarter miles = 22/4 miles = 11/2 miles = 5 1/2 miles = C
