Is one month enough?

by cshah86 » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:06 pm
Hi,

I have been reading this forum a few weeks now and have decided to finally post something.

I am currently waiting for my OG 11ed and OG verbal + OG Quant

I am planning on taking it in roughly 4 weeks since I have some deadlines for MSF programs. I plan on studying 5+ hrs/weekday and 12-16hrs/weekend

Study the materials during the weekdays and during the weekends just take practice exams.

Do you guys think that this is sufficient enough time? And are these material sufficient enough?

Please let me know what you guys think, any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

People have done this before, but normally I recommend that if you have additional time to prep (3 months or so), by all means use the additional time to prep!

In any event here's a post on How to study for the GMAT in under one month

Before deciding anything, I recommend you take a GMAT Prep exam from MBA.com. These are the most accurate indicators of your actual GMAT performance. If you do well on the first test (hitting close to your target), then you may be okay to do just a quick round of prep. If you are far below your target, consider taking more time.

Good luck!

I think you'll quickly realize that 5 hours of GMAT study per day (and 16 on the weekends) is just too much. After about 2 (3 tops) hours per day, most people's brains start to shut off.

That said, even with a more reasonable amount of study per day, people can show some decent improvement in a month, depending of course on a few factors such as your foundational knowledge, aptitude for standardized tests, and efficiency of study.

As said above, three months is a lot better, but if you only have one month, c'est la vie. Good luck!

Thank you for replying.

I will see how the studying goes and if I need to I will try to study a little longer. I will also post how I do with my month-long study plan.

Thanks once again.
