Hi,

Kindly rate and provide your feedback for the Issue analysis on the below topic:

"The rise of multinational corporations is leading to global homogeneity. People everywhere are beginning to want the same products and services, and regional differences are rapidly disappearing."

-----------------------

I agree with the author's claim that the multinational corporations are spreading globally so much that it is leading to global homogeneity. People in every part of the globe are now demanding for same variety of products and for same quality of services. This phenomenon is rapidly blurring regional differences across the globe.

First reason for my belief is the outsourcing of IT services to the growing economies from the developed countries. While catering to the needs of IT services to the customers in the developed countries, an awareness has risen among the people of the developing countries about the global standards of products and services. This, in turn, has led to the introduction of transformational IT services into the local commerce and governance. For example, In India before two decades, there was a rare use of computers and computer enabled services in the public domains such as Vehicle Licensing, House registrations, and various bill payments. Soon after the IT revolution in India pioneered by such companies as Infosys, TCS, etc., everything aspect of service has been transforming into IT enabled service within the country. Now, we don't have to wait for weeks together for our Vehicles or our new homes to be registered, and even our various utility bills can be paid with just a click of the mouse, thanks to the computerization of these government bodies.

Second reason for my belief is that, with the rising standard of living of people in growing economies demand for the world class products and services has begun leading to the globalization of major corporations of the world. In this competitiveness, even the regional companies are raising their standards to meet the expectations of the local consumers. The best example of this is rising demand of the automobiles from the manufactures such as General Motors, Ford, Toyota, etc., in India. Now, vehicles from these manufacturers are so common on the Indian roads that they have become household names. However, regional preference in food and apparel is difficult to alter but we can still see that the people frequently like to have food at McDonald's and KFC's, and like to wear brands like Lee, Flying Machine, etc.

In sum, author's observation is correct in that people everywhere are demanding same products and services due to the introduction of IT and the effect of improved standard of living. There are some things where regional preference is difficult to change, but we can still see that global brands are gaining popularity.
