Kaplan give me back 3 hours of my life!!!

by mleviko » Mon Apr 14, 2008 6:43 am
I just completely wasted 3 hours of my life, doing Kaplan's CAT2 from the CD that came with the Kaplan 2008 book. Kaplan CATs are known to be harder than the real GMAT and to cut your score by 100 points so you would go and join one of their expensive classes. But even though I knew it would be hard, nothing prepared me to this sh*t... this test was RIDICULOUSLY hard, with every reading comprehension paragraph lasting at least 60 lines, and extremely difficult and long critical reasoning paragraphes.

I managed to get a mindblowing 540 with 34Q 25V split.... I won't even put it in my scores list on my blog, unless I get more than 700 in the real GMAT and then I'll put it just to show how stupid Kaplan CATs are.

I suggest to just ignore this score at this point. Given your performance on the "real" practice CATs, just view this as an anomaly. I think that your scoring trend justifies doing so.

I am so so so glade that I read your post, I am in the same boat as yours. ten days to go, did KAP CAT II today and my score was exactly like yours, I lost full ten minutes from V as i went for a break after Q but time was actually running in V, nevertheless, I found the RC texts ridiculously difficult and guessed all of the the last two RC questions to gain some time for CR and SC, felt I did fairly well in Q but scored 35 only :S
I feel down after doing it, especially that I spent three days doing intense preparations on SC and PS/DS, i was hoping to break a 600 on Kaplan, but now decided that I won't touch their CATs anymore, I have a couple of MGs, and PRs and will stick to those, I will do one tomorrow to boost my confidence again, I defiantly need this after doing this CAT, offfff.

Good Luck with your preps.

It must be one of the funniest post titles I have ever read.

I think it also very accurately summarizes the feeling of a test taker after seeing the Kaplan scores.
