how to crack gmat when not cracked cat

hi
i am preparing for cat 2017 december seriously . But my aim is to crack gmat. so i want to take gmat also after cat exam. i did not have much time to crack it.may be a few months time. i am studying third year engineering now. i want to join in 2+2 deferral program if did not get regular admission.what is the strategy i have to follow ? can any one help me........................?

Hi sai sudheer.

Your best bet might be to work on GMAT verbal concurrently with preparing for the CAT Exam. Preparing for GMAT verbal will be good for your CAT verbal performance, and sometimes people find that hitting their GMAT verbal score goals can take longer than they expected.

Hi sai sudheer,

As a general rule, it's best to focus on one Test at a time. The amount of time that you'll need to prepare for the GMAT will depend on a variety of factors, including your score goal, your natural skills and whatever skills might 'transfer over' from your CAT studies. Before we can attempt to plan out a timeline, it would help if you could provide a bit more information about your situation:

1) What is your GMAT score goal?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

4) Is December 4th the earliest that you can take CAT? (can you move your Test Date forward?)

i am planning to apply around april for 2+2 program
i want to apply for top business schools
i take cat exam in december....
what are the extra curricular activities that contribute high to admission process.

Hi sai sudheer,

If you're not planning to apply to Business School until next April, then you have plenty of time to prepare for each Test individually and still have your application(s) ready in time. Since some of the skills that you'll build while studying for the CAT Test will help you train for the GMAT, I think it would be easiest for you to just focus on that first Test for now. You didn't answer my last question though - is December 4th the earliest that you can take the CAT Test? And as a follow-up, if you're not happy with that official score result, when would you be able to retake that test?

Since it sounds as if you are just starting out on your GMAT journey, it is a good idea to first familiarize yourself with the GMAT exam and then take an MBA.com practice exam. The results of that exam will provide an accurate depiction of what to expect on the GMAT as well as a baseline GMAT score.

However, to provide more personalized advice, I do have some questions for you:

1) What is your GMAT score goal?

2) What are the MBA programs to which you plan to apply? When are your application deadlines?

3) For how many hours a day can you study for your GMAT? For how many months?

4) What resources do you plan to use for your prep?

Once you take the official practice exam, please report back with your scores.

My gmat score goal is 720 - 740
I want to get admission in 2 + 2 deferral program in 2020
I did not know anything about application procedure and deadline as I did not apply till now I also need information regarding this.
I can study for 3 hours daily till exam.
I want to take online coaching.
