Scores Considered

by karthigeyank » Fri May 18, 2012 3:11 am
Hi,

I'm a Software Engineer from India. I gave my GMAT on 16th Apr 2012 and scored 600. My split up was 50Q and 21V. Since my Verbal scores was too bad, i decided to retake GMAT and secured 670 today. 47Q and 35V. I'm planning to apply with this score. Some of my friends said some schools would consider the average GMAT score if GMAT has been taken multiple times. Some say the better score would be considered. So should start applying for schools with 670 as average accepted score or 635 (600 + 670 / 2).. Please advice on the same. I understand that GMAT is just 25% of application process but still i want to identify the schools properly.

Hi Kartik,

You have made significant improvement in the second attempt. However, I would still suggest you to take the GMAT again aiming to get 50 in quant (your quant dropped a little bit in the second attempt) while maintaining 35 in verbal///this will take you beyond 700...GMAT score of 700+ will make your application be seen in a different light......As you are aware, you belong to the most competitive pool of applicants - Indian, Male, IT, so your goal should be to make your application strong in every respect.
