Thanks in advance!

In some countries, television and radio programs are carefully censored for offensive language and behaviour. In other countries, there is little or no censorship.

In your view, to what extent should government or any othe group be able to censor television or radio programs? Explain, giving relevant reasons and examples to support your position.

10:44 – 11:07 – 23 minutes.

The issue of television and radio programs censoriship is a difficult one. On one hand, some countries choose to censor television and radio programs since they use offensive language and show inapropiate behaviour as an attempt to educate its habitants. On the other hand, other countries do not censor these kind of programs, leaving the possibility to the habitants choose whether to watch or hear those programs. However, there are two main reasons why programs with offensive language or behaviuor should be censored.

In first place, children could watch o hear those programs, and eventually, adopt that kind of language or behaviour. According to the psychology nobel prize winner, John McTanet, children who adopt that kind of language or behaviour, can develop psychological problems that would endanger their possibility of havinf good personal relations with other people, such as familiy and friends. Consecuently, an important part of the society could be affected by psychological problems. Therefore, children should not be able to watch or hear these kind of programs.

In second place, every government should care about the values that are transmitted to its people. Such values should be honesty, love, humility and generosity among others. None of these values can be represented with offensive language and inapropiate behaviour, hence, offensive language and inapropiate behaviour should not be broadcasted.

In conclusion, televsion and radio programs with offensive language and inapropiate behaviour should be censored in order to maintain people free from psychological disorders and promote positive values among people.
